01

About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Mum (“we”, “us”). By using Mum, in Signal or at mum.ai, you agree to them. Our Privacy policy explains what we collect, and what we never collect.

To confirmLegal company name and registered address.
02

Who can use Mum

You need a Signal account to use Mum, and Signal’s own terms apply to your use of Signal.

To confirmMinimum age, and any countries where Mum isn’t offered.
03

Your account

When you sign up, you get a random account number. Treat it like a password: anyone who has it can use your account.

We don’t know who you are, so if you lose the number, we can’t recover the account or anything in it.

04

What Mum does

Mum is an AI assistant you talk to in Signal. It can answer questions, research, plan, and use websites for you to compare, book and buy things.

You can add Mum to group chats, where it responds when someone tags @mum. Your Mum can also work with other people’s Mums on your behalf.

05

Plans and allowances

PlanPriceWeekly allowance
Free$0100M tokens
Plus$20 / month500M tokens
Pro$100 / month3B tokens

A token is a small piece of text, roughly three-quarters of a word. Mum counts tokens for everything it reads and writes for you, including web pages it reads while working on a task. Allowances reset every week. Prices are in US dollars.

To confirmBilling period, accepted payment methods, refunds, taxes, and what happens when someone reaches their weekly allowance.
06

Payments Mum makes for you

If you save a card in your vault, Mum can use it to pay for things, but only after you approve each payment in the chat. If you decline, nothing is charged.

You’re responsible for the payments you approve. Purchases are between you and the seller, so the seller’s terms, refund and cancellation policies apply.

07

Using websites for you

When Mum uses a website on your behalf, you’re responsible for following that website’s terms.

Websites can block automated visits or change how they work without notice, so we can’t promise every task will succeed.

08

Acceptable use

Don’t use Mum to:

  • break the law, or buy anything you’re not allowed to buy;
  • harass, threaten, deceive or harm anyone;
  • get into accounts, systems or data you’re not allowed to access;
  • send spam or run scams;
  • attack or try to break into Mum’s sealed computers, except through an authorised security-research program.
To confirmWhether you’ll run a security-research program, and how researchers should report issues.
09

AI can get things wrong

Mum’s answers are written by AI and can be wrong or out of date. Check anything important before you rely on it.

Mum isn’t a doctor, lawyer or financial adviser, and its answers aren’t professional advice.

10

Privacy

Mum is built so we can’t read your conversations. It runs on sealed computers, keeps no logs and never trains on what you say. The Privacy policy has the details, and How Mum works explains how to check them.

11

Changes to Mum and these terms

Every new version of Mum’s code goes into a public log and waits 7 days before it can touch anyone’s keys, so changes to how Mum works are visible before they happen.

If we change these terms, we’ll post the new version here with a new date.

To confirmNotice period for changes to these terms or to prices.
12

Ending your use

You can stop using Mum at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.

13

Disclaimers and liability

We work hard to keep Mum running and private, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors.

To confirmWarranty disclaimer, limitation of liability and indemnity wording, to be written by counsel.
14

Governing law

To confirmWhich country’s or state’s law governs these terms, and where disputes are resolved.
15

Contact

Questions about these terms are welcome.

To confirmContact address for questions about these terms.
